Online schooling.....How complicated is it????

Some people think that online school is so easy and that people who take online classes are just taking the easy way out.... WRONG!!!! Online school is just like taking live classes with a professor talking to you face to face. There is nothing easy and I'm sure not trying to take the easy way out. What some people do not realize is that, for those who have difficult lives and are working non-stop have the option to take online classes that count for something. I have heard every bad thing imaginable about Kaplan. One person told me that it wasn't a real school and that the degrees are not real. But what is the difference between this school and all the other online schools that are out of state? I could have went to Virginia College, but they only have a certificate in Medical Assisting. I wanted to actually have a degree and say that I worked by butt off to earn it. I like it because it is just like having a teacher there when I need them. I have my fears that I will not be able to do it anymore, but I know that my future depends on it. So class mates, answer this..... Why did you choose this school and what are you hoping to get out of this experience?

  1. I chose this school for the convenience. I don't work full time, but I do have kids to take care of and the schools around here don't have day care. And to have regular day care is really expensive. Because I'm not working I don't have that kind of money to hand out while I go to school. Kaplan has been so great in my experience. They are always there to help you. Everyone involved in. And there are so many resources out there for us to use. Of course, that doesn't mean it's the easy way out. It is still hard and very time consuming. I am enjoying it even though it is tough lol Some days I want to just give up! But like you said, my future depends on this so I'm going for it. Been thinking about taking an extra class next term too.

  2. I also chose this school for the convience of it. I work full time, work out regularly, try to spend quality time with my family and friends and still remain sain. This is definately not the easy way out, the easy way would be not to try at all. I commend all of you who are going for a degree to better your lives. Our future is wide open and we should not be held back because we didn't have the time or the money to go to an on site campus. I hope that Kaplan will give me the desire to go full speed ahead with my education and conquer my fears of unaccomplishments...so to speak.

  3. Michele, I am glad that you are asking these questions about this new form of education--and your classmates are adding some great ideas!
